Syndicate is the third game in the Syndicate series, but it is a reboot of the series as opposed to a sequel to 1996's Syndicate Wars. It was released on 21 February 2012 in North America and 24 February 2012 in Europe, for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. The game is set a century before the events of the original Syndicate and deals with the rise of EuroCorp to global dominance, in a story written by British author Richard K. Morgan. Syndicate uses a proprietary graphics engine created by Starbreeze and used in their earlier Chronicles of Riddick games.
